The History

The history of U.B. Cotton Pvt. Ltd. reflects a rich legacy that has spanned over several decades. The Thakkar family’s involvement in the cotton trade dates back to the 1930’s, with the business being passed down through generations. The pivotal shift in the family’s cotton operations occurred on May 6, 2002, when the company was officially rebranded as U.B. Cotton Pvt. Ltd.

The journey began with Late Khimjibhai Thakkar and followed by his nephew Shri Budhdhidhan P. Thakkar, a key figure in the family’s cotton business. His deep commitment to the cotton trade started in 1954 and remained a driving force until his passing away in 2001. Under his leadership, the company gained prominence in both domestic and international cotton markets.

The next chapter saw his son, Udayan B. Thakkar, present Managing Director take charge as the third-generation leader of the family business. Uday was later joined by his sons, Kunal U. Thakkar (an engineer from USA) and Ravi U. Thakkar (a Lawyer) both having joined the family business in the year 2008 and 2012 respectively marking the transition to the fourth generation of the family’s involvement in the company. The Thakkar family has consistently remained in leadership, preserving their values, legacy, and a dedication to excellence in the cotton industry.
